It's always a fine meal at birds. The grouper sandwich is excellent. Burgers are fine, too. Service at lunch was a little slow
I was staying across the street at 4 points... I was tired, but not wanting hotel food... I called Bird's, placed my order, walked across the street and picked up my order within 10 minutes! The staff was so friendly and helpful 3 separate people asked if I had been helped... The real star of the show was the food here... large portions, very fresh and perfectly seasoned If you are in Tallahassee, I highly recommend this place... and they have live music
Love being there employees react so well together and the food is great. I live 35 miles away when I go to Tallahassee it's my first or last stop
Love the different oysters (raw, steamed, baked) and you can add various toppings. I added Parmesan cheese, spinach, and crab meat. Should've added garlic. I also had a build your own fried grouper sandwich which was huge. Service was attentive and the ambiance was like a dive bar feel.
Staff was fairly friendly, opted for the outdoor seating near the front door. Tables were clean. The smell of Clorox hit my nostrils sporadically like smelling salts throughout the night. Ordered a dozen raw oysters and their shrimp basket with onion rings. Shrimp and onion rings were beyond SALTY holy hell, us black folk already have high blood pressure, house sauce on the side was vinegar based too. Not the biggest fan. Oysters were good! Would come back on a Wednesday for their dollar oyster promotion! Hazy Beer was good. Water was acceptable too. Would run back the oysters and a drink, other than that I'd pass. Since I can't do 3.5 stars, I gave it a 4 for the oysters alone. Factoring in my meal sponsored by Lawry and Morton would put it at a 3!
Had garlic Parmesan baked Oysters. WOW, they were great. The atmosphere is awesome if you're looking for a dive bar. You e found the right place. Great selection of beer both on tap and individual can. I had a blackened chicken sandwich, which was prepared perfectly. Rates as one of the best I've had. Their pressed Cuban sandwich is also very good. Service was very prompt and attentive as well as very nice. One of my new favorite places.
Wow what a divey jam with great food and drinks! The best raw oysters in Florida (I'm from Maryland so this is a high bar) and the best juicy burger ever! I had to steal bites from my daughter and she won't let me have more than two bites. $1 oyster Wednesday deal is a steal!
If you are staying at a nearby hotel pick Sheraton it's 50 yards from the restaurant. This should be a DDD on flavor town. Fresh oysters and grouper for me! I have never had better fries and coleslaw perfect with the fries. I sat at the bar and my pretty server was polite kind and efficient. Ambiance is what I like rustic, nostalgic and low key.
